Just So You Understand...

By DUARDO PAZ-MARTINEZ
The Paz Files

AUSTIN, Texas - I was always told that one must end something so that something new can begin. It applies to romance, to work, to a new year. So here goes my sermon to those who come here in search of whatever it is that interests them and then discover they're in the wrong lounge. We're not bitching at you, but there are times when something tells us things need to be explained, if only for my sanity.

A reader has questioned the ongoing fictional account being published here of Louise Herrera's life and murder. I believe this reader (from our Anonymous ranks) is at odds with use of a nude photo in connection with the latest installment in the - again - fictional tale of love and disgust. This must be said: the writer will always be loyal to the story, not to the reader, and at times not even to himself. The story goes where it must go.

We use photographs to make our posts a bit more visual. My feeling on that is that here, in the Year 2012, readers need a face, a scene, for whatever it is they are asked to read. The Paz Files is not a newspaper of record. It is far from it. We do not cover your hometown fires, nor do we go ga-ga over insular issues such as annexation or hometown angst. We do, however, try to bring readers notes of interest, some of which are national or political in nature and go to the old pocketbook; that is, news stories you may want to know about, or perhaps should know about.

At times, we get silly. It's a Blog, not the official website of The Vatican. The Paz Files does not endorse candidates. My feeling on that is that these politicians do not need any more back-rubbings. Endorsements in the blogging world are laughable. Most bloggers are not trained newsmen, nor are they educated political scientists. Some are people who have lived off trades and professions far from the aforementioned. We know of one who spent his life peripherally in the home mortgage business, is not a college graduate, yet is as quick to endorse as he is to be wrong.

The Paz Files accepts no advertisements. We do not take cash in exchange for positive stories and neither do we accept free meals. We generally do what we want to do with this Blog and leave it at that. Those who have read this blog for the past months, and the one it replaced for the previous years, have come to know that our road is not the straight & narrow pathway of egomania walled-in by the smallness of a Rio Grande Valley neighborhood.

It's Monday, the second day of the year.

We trust you think about this and, if you decide to keep visiting with us, that you understand the trip, that you realize that there is no price of admission here and, more importantly, that you do not have to compare us to others. Those guys have their own burdens. As for the content of The Paz Files, we also have those readers who follow (Who knows, perhaps enjoy) our offerings, Louise Herrera's take included. Gratuitous cliche: It is what it is.

Finally, we accept all criticism about our stories, but we won't bend on the mission...

Thank you for clearing the air. Some people take blogging way too seriously. I have no problems with your stories or the graphics. If I don’t like a story I skip over it. Those I skipped are few in number. As for the nude and seminude photos, if a reader is offended he or she can go elsewhere. My only problem; your blog is restricted on computers for guests’ use in the lobbies of most hotels because of the sexual content. When I travel I miss checking The Paz Files until my return home.

Paul, that's odd. I was in Fort Worth this past weekend, at a Marriott hotel and had no problems accessing the sites I frequent, including this one. Your approach is the sensible approach, BTW... - Editor

Blogs range all over the place. it's like in music, you don't like all songs on a CD. Paz Files is better than most, however.

I have stayed at 3 hotels in Corpus Christi and 1 in Texarkana where parental controls on the lobby computers prevent accessing your blog. It is hit and miss with the Chicken because of the graphic death and mutilations he occasionally shows but I go days without checking the site. When I take my wife’s laptop I have no problem logging into The Paz Files at the hotels, it is only the lobby computers available to the public where I have encountered the problem.

One should not go religious over a photo of a black woman in the nude. She's naked, but it's NOT porno. You can't be sensitive about such things. The human body in some cases is sexy. If you make it porno then it's YOU.

For heaven's sake, it is a blog about some crazy people from Brownsville Texas. Get over it.

The word is that Aflred apalaca is the father of Louise H. baby. That is why he was so sentimental.

As a former law enforcement officer, I have two suspects, Weesie Washington, and Rudolf VonBulow.
Weesie was defending her daughter's honor. Rudolf was going to face the music in court.
